I inadvertently missed the daylight again, so today is another archive day. To make up for it you get two pics on the price of one.



Tämä on tanssinopettajalle porukan puolesta tehty megaiso joulukortti. Kortti itse piirrettiin yhdessä, mutta minä sain vastuulleni sen *krhm*, pakkaamisen. Kortti tehtiin A3-kokoiselle vesiväriarkille ja solmimisnauhat ovat n sentin levyisiä. Ei siis mikään pieni versio. Mukana myös oikeaa sinettivahaa sekä kortin sisuksista pilkistävä ruusuke.

This is a megasized christmas my dance troupe made for our dance teacher. The card was drawn together, but I volunteered to pack it so to speak. The paper is A3 watercolour sheet and the ribbons tying the card are about 1cm wide. Not a small thing in other words. Also starring, real seal wax and the lapells of a show ribbon fastened on the inside of the card.



Tapani suunnitella koruja on sanotaanko ei niin järjestelmällinen. Yleensä plärään läpi helmiläjääni, otan esille kasan helmiä, jotka voisivat sopia yhteen, minkä jälkeen alan asetella niitä muotoihin palasella valkeaa fleeceä. Fleece estää helmiä vieriämästä (ja on huomattavasti varsinaista helmimattoa halvempaa) ja valkea tausta ei kilpaile helmien omien värien kanssa. Tällä tavoin päätän korun yleisen muodon ja suurien helmien paikat, sen jälkeen on vasta aika miettiä miten pienet siemenhelmet asettuvat näiden isojen ympärille. Tässä (huonolaatuinen) kuva tästä ensimmäisestä työvaiheesta.

My method for designing jewellery is, shall we say, less than systematic. Normally I just rummage through my beads, pick out a bunch I think might go together, after which I start placing them in pleasing formations on a sheet of white fleece. The fleece keeps the beads from rolling around (and is considerably cheaper than a proper bead mat) and the white background doesn't compete with the colours of the beads. I do this until I have a good idea of the general shape of the piece and only then start figuring out where the small seed beads go. This is a (low quality) picture of this first stage in my beading.
