Lopputuloksia näette alla. Korostan olevani noviisi kameran käsittelyssä, hapuilen hieman sinne tänne ja koitan keksiä jotain joka toimisi edes jotenkin. Lisäksi kuvausjärjestelyjä rajoittavat kameran tyyppi ja valaistuksessa ja rekvisiitassa vaihtoehtojen puute. Mutta ehkä se harjoitus edes harrastajan tekee.

I got frustrated with my boring jewellery pics and so set out to try out a few things. I wanted fun backgrounds that would accentuate the jewellery, but would also be more than just a white canvas. Well, the white canvas is still there, I didn't get far enough along to remove it. Some of the results can be viewed below. I would like to emphasise that not only am I a novice with cameras, I'm limited as to my options concerning props and lighting. But who knows, perhaps practice makes even adequate.
The Oliphant
Päädyin hieman omaisuuttani läpikäytyäni koettamaan toimisivatko kirjat taustoina. Tämä kyseinen tiiliskivi on nähtävissä myöhemmässä kuvassa tukena. Jostain syystä koru alivalottui, eikä tule esille kovin hyvin, mutta pidän sen asennosta ja teksti näyttää mielestäni mukavalta taustalta.
After some rummaging I decided to see if books would work as props. This particular brick can be seen from the outside in a latter picture. For some reason the necklace became too dark and so doesn't show too well, but I like the position and the way the text look in the background.
Bracelet with amethysts
Tämä rannekoru asettui mukavasti valokuvakirjan päälle, mutta kuvasin tämän kokeiluna suorassa auringonvalossa vain todetakseni, ettei se toimi. Kaikki hennot sävyt ja monet muodot ovat palaneet pois.
I like the way this one sits on the book. However, my experiment on photographing in direct sunlight was not a success. All the soft shades and many of the shapes are just burned away.
Daisies and darkness
Tämä tuntuu toimivan aika mukavasti. Tumma tausta tuo esille puukuvioiden voimakkaat värit ja vaijeri asettuu mukavasti litteälle sivulle.
I kind of like the way this one works. The dark background brings out the strong colours in the wood and the wire sets itself down beautifully on the page.
Yesterday's earrings
Korvakorujen kuvaaminen on murheenkryyni, ne pitäisi saada ripustettua, mutta kuitenkin aseteltua mukavan taustan eteen. Päädyin ripustamaan ne kirjan reunaan. Ajan tummentama paperi itse asiassa tuo hyvin miellyttävällä tavalla esiin itse korujen sävyt.
Photographing earrings gives me gray hairs. They should be hung, but still have a nice background. This was chosen for purely the hanging feature, but turns out the yellowed old paper actually accentuates the shades in the jewellery quite nicely.
Timeless writing
Tämä on toinen suosikkikuvistani tässä sarjassa. Tausta tuntuu sopivan erinomaisesti koruun ja paksu kirja antaa painavalle korulle juuri sopivan vastuksen ja muodon. Ehkä tästä vielä tuleekin jotain.
Yes, I know it's a bad pun.
This is one of my two favourites in this set. The background and the necklace go well together and the heavy book gives a very nice position to the heavy strands. There just might be something there.
Much to my liking
Tämä onkin sitten suosikkikuva numero 1. Ylänurkka ylivaloittui, mutta pidän itse asiassa siitä efektistä. Muokatessani huomasin kaksi asiaa, etualan tausta on pikselöitynyt -se on alkuperäisessä kirjassa, kamerani vain toisti sen tehokkaasti- ja korun alapuolella näkyy hauskasti sen heijastus. Monen mielestä tämä varmasti olisi valokuvausteknisesti ja -tyylillisesti huono kuva, mutta minä nyt vain satun pitämään siitä kovasti.
This would be the favourite picture number 1. The top corner is too bright, but I like that effect. As I was processing this I noticed two things, first that the foreground is rather pixely -that was from the original photo in the book- and that the reflection of the necklace shows below it. I'm sure many would consider this a bad photo from a technical and stylistic point of view, but I just happen to like it.
