Maybe Your Heart Is Made of Stone

...maybe I'm just too blind to see.

Mitään tekemistähän sillä ei tämän korun kanssa ole. Fraasi "Heart of Stone" vain aina tuo hyvin pavlovimaisesti mieleen kyseisen kappaleen.

Ainiin, kivisydän, kivihelmiä (oletan näitä aventuriiniksi) ja lasisia siemenhelmiä. Moni helmeilijä varmaan irvistelisi näille suurille ja epätasaisille siemenhelmille, mutta minua niiden barokkimaisuus viehättää.

HUOM: Pastellivärit ja varsinkaan pastelliväriset sydämet eivät oikein ole minun tyyliäni, joten tämä yksilö etsii uutta kotia.

Of course it has absolutely nothing to do with the necklace here, other than the words "Heart of Stone" always conjure up the chorusline in a way Pavlov would be proud of.

Oh and btw, Eurythmics ROCKS!

And oh yes, stone heart, stone beads and seed beads of glass. Many beaders no doubt would frown upon such big, uneven seed beads, but I find they have a very appealing baroque feel to them.

NB: Pastel colours and especially pastel coloured hearts aren't really my style so this one's looking for a new loving home.

Ending up in the possession of assorted, colourful bicones, one naturally starts practicing one's earring-fu. With the help of seed and bugle beads, glass beads, yellow quartz, silver wire and silver plated copper wire.

Keräsin vihdoin rohkeuteni ja tein korvakorut sterling-hopeasta. Tavara ei ole halpaa ja pelkäsin munaavani, mutta ilokseni ensimmäinen yritys poiki kelvollisen lopputuloksen.

I finally gathered my courage and made these earrings with sterling silver. I was worried I might muck it up and waste valuable raw material, but the first try turned out all right after all.

St. Patrick's Day
Tarvitsin pikaisesti jotain vihreää pyhän patrikin päivän juhlallisuuksia varten ja näiden tekeminen oli huomattavasti miellyttävämpi vaihtoehto kuin koettaa etsiä kaupasta jokin asiaankuuluvasti värjätty vaatekappale.

I needed something green for the abovementioned holiday and this was easier than trying to find palatable clothing. The original isn't for sale but I could be persuaded to make another set for someone else...




For the 30th birthday
Käytän kovin vähän vihreitä vaatteita, mutta jostain syystä pidän vihreistä koruista.

I don't really wear much green, but for some reason I seem to like green jewellery. Perhaps it's just because the green shades in stones are much nicer than the greens available in clothing and fabrics.

Time Stood Still

Kirppikset, osto- ja myyntiliikkeet, antikvariaatit, yhtä vaarallisia kaikki tyynni. Viimeisimmällä harharetkellä mukaan tarttui pysähtynyt kello, joka joskus ilmeisesti on roikkunut jonkinlaisessa ketjussa. Kelloissa on jotain kiehtovaa, myös silloin kun ne ovat ikuisiksi ajoiksi jähmettyneet johonkin tiettyyn ajanhetkeen. Tämä sai ympärilleen ametisteja, vuorikristalleja ja lasia ja muuttui puhtaaksi koristeeksi.

There's something fascinating about clocks, even when they have stopped and are frozen forever in some particular moment in time. I found this one at a second hand shop, surrounded it with amethysts, rock crystals and glass, and thus turned into a pure (mere?) decoration.
